2008 Tom's fine art photographs are now exclusively represented in the New England region by Gallery 17 Peck , one of Rhode Island's premier dealers of contemporary fine art. The Gallery has just moved to it's exciting new location at 303 Atwells Avenue, in the Federal Hill section of Providence. April. 2008 Tom is exhibiting at the Southern New England Women's Expo, held this year at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Warwick, RI, on April 27. This is a great chance to meet Tom in person, see dozens of his images, and enter a drawing for a free Glamour/Boudoir Session! March. 2008 Tom is having his first solo gallery exhibition since moving to Rhode Island! It will be on display from March 14 through April 14 at The Gallery at 17 Peck, located in downtown Providence. The exhibit will include nearly 50 of Tom's images, mostly nudes and dance images along with a few abstract compositions. An opening reception, sponsored by GET magazine, is taking place on Friday, March 14 from 5-9PM. There will also be another reception on Thursday, March 20, from 5-9PM, as part of Providence's Gallery Night! Make sure to see this comprehensive exhibit of Tom's images.
November. 2007 Tom's photograph titled "Desire" has been published in the Nov/Dec 2007 Collector Showcase issue of CameraArts magazine. It was chosen, along with about 60 other images, from more than 3400 submitted images! CameraArts is a prestigious magazine which publishes the work of today's top fine art photographers.
November. 2007 Tom has set up a small exhibit of 8 of his sensuous nudes at Miko, located at 268 Wickenden Street on the East Side of Providence. Visit the store during the month of November and enter your name in a drawing for a free Studio Glamour Photo Session! Miko is Providence's favorite place to buy lingerie, sex toys, books, accessories, and other sensuous gifts!
September. 2007 Tom has begun shooting editorial and advertising photos for GET Magazine, Providence's "magically-inclusive" lifestyle and information monthly providing an entertaining avenue of expression for the creative GLBT community.
July. 2007 Tom has begun shooting some freelance images for "Providence Monthly" magazine, mainly shooting advertising photographs. Tom is also shooting promotional dance images for the Brown University Dept of Theatre, Speech, and Dance.
February. 2007 Tom has officially re-opened his photography business in Rhode Island! The studio aspects of the business (head shots, modeling/glamour portfolios, publicity photos, etc.) will continue under the name Shadow & Light Studio; his fine art and commercial photography will now simply be under the name Tom Stio Photography.January. 2007 Two of Tom's photographs are included in "Expressive Bodies: Contemporary Art Photography from the Kinsey Institute", which is on display from January 9-27 at the Indiana University School of Fine Arts Gallery. "Expressive Bodies" surveys the use of the photographic medium by contemporary artists to express ideas about sexuality and gender, or to explore the visual impact of the human figure. The Kinsey Institute holds many of Tom's images in it's extensive collection of fine art photographs.
September. 2006 It's official: Tom and his wife are moving to Providence RI sometime in early October! Tom is no longer taking new customers in Bloomington , and the Studio is now closed. Tom will re-open Shadow & Light Studio in Providence by the end of the year. Customers who need prints or digital files of images taken during the last few years can contact Tom in the future and obtain them via mail order. June. 2006 Tom has begun work shooting for the new BLOOM magazine, which is slated to publish it's first issue in August 2006. BLOOM is a celebration of life in Bloomington; Tom will be photographing local celebrities, contributors, as well as images for some feature articles.
March. 2006 Two of Tom's photographs were accepted into The Kinsey Institutes's 1st Annual Juried Erotic Art Show. The opening reception will take place Friday, April 14, from 5-7PM. The exhibit will run until June 30. The Kinsey Institute is located at 313 Morrison Hall on the Indiana University campus.

The Kinsey Institute of Sexual Research, which recently gained the national spotlight because of the film "Kinsey," has just acquired a set of 16 of Tom's photographs for its permanent collection. The 16 prints are an assortment of nudes and dance images taken during the last 6 years. The Institute maintains an extensive collection of photographs and other artwork related to sexuality, dance, and other figurative themes.
September. 2005 Tom's photograph titled "Desire" was accepted into the 61st Annual Wabash Valley Juried Exhibition at the Sheldon Swope Art Museum in Terre Haute. The photograph was also awarded the Keith Ermish Purchase Award! The exhibition will be on display from Sept. 17 through Oct. 22, 2005. The Swope Art Museum is at 25 South Seventh St, Terre Haute, IN 47807.
August. 2005 "Bringing the World to Our Neighborhood," a book about the Lotus World Music and Arts Festival written by LuAnne Holladay, has just been released by IU Press. The book contains 100 photographs taken during the first ten years of the festival by various photographers. Tom has been an official Festival photographer for the past five years, and about 20 of his images are included in the collection.
July. 2005 "Indiana Cooks!", a new book by Christine Barbour with photographs by Tom Stio, has just been published by IU Press! The book covers 15 of the finest restaurants across Indiana: There are interviews with each restaurant's chef, four signature recipes from each establishment, and 100 photos of the food, chefs, and decor that make each restaurant a memorable experience! Look for it at your favorite bookseller.
April. 2005 Tom has TWO exhibits of photographs in Bloomington right now! The first is at Monroe Bank, at 210 East Kirkwood Avenue. The exhibit comprises 35 of Tom's best photographs from the last five years: abstracts, landscapes, dance photographs, and other assorted unusual subjects. This exhibit will be on display until June 25, so make a point to stop in when you're downtown The second exhibit is at The Wandering Turtle Gallery, at 224 N. College Avenue (just north of the Square). This exhibit, entitled "Body Parts," includes 20 of Tom's nudes, including several award-winning images. This exhibit will be on display until May 17, so make sure you get to see it while it's up!
September. 2004 Tom's photograph titled "Nude/Landscape III: Tissued Torso" was accepted into the 60th Annual Wabash Valley Juried Exhibition at the Sheldon Swope Art Museum in Terre Haute. The photograph was also awarded both the Barbara Vogel Award of Merit and the Keith Ermish Purchase Award! The exhibition will be on display from Sept. 18 through Oct. 24, 2004. August. 2004 An exhibit of Tom's dance photographs, "Images of Dance," will be on display at the John Waldron Arts Center's Rosemary P. Miller Gallery from September 3-25! Be sure to come to the opening reception, which will take place at the gallery on Friday, September 3, from 5:30-7PM. Included in the exhibit of approximately 30 photographs are members of the IU Ballet Theatre, the African American Dance Company, the IU Contemporary Dance Program, Indiana Dance Theatre, and the Windfall Dancers, as well as several individual dancers. The gallery hours are Mon-Fri, 11am-5pm, and Sat, 11am-3pm.
July. 2004 Tom has just been named a recipient of an Individual Artists Program Grant from the Indiana Arts Commission. The grant will enable Tom to photograph professional and academic dance companies throughout Indiana, and to mount an exhibition of the resulting dance photographs in several Indiana cities!
June. 2004 Tom has begun work shooting the photographs for a new book by Christine Barbour, tentatively titled "Indiana Cooks!". The book, which will be published by IU Press, will highlight the culinary riches of more than a dozen finer restaurants across Indiana, and will include recipes and photographs of each restaurant's signature dishes.
May. 2004 The 13th Annual Juried Exhibit of the Bloomington Photography Club will be on display beginning May 18 at Indiana University's School of Fine Arts (SOFA) Gallery, in Bloomington. Five of Tom's photographs were accepted into this exhibit, which runs through May 28. Be sure to come to the Opening Reception, which will take place Friday, May 21, from 7-9PM.
January. 2004 Two of Tom's photographs were accepted into the Lexington Art League's juried exhibition entitled "The Nude 2004." Tom was one of only a handful of artists to have more than one work chosen for this prestigious annual exhibition, which will be on display in the historic Loudoun House in Lexington, Kentucky. The gala opening reception will take place on Friday, January 9, from 7-9PM, and the exhibition will run through February 29, 2004.
November. 2003 Tom's solo exhibition of photographs, entitled "Parallel Universes", is on display in the Textillery Gallery from November 4 to November 29. The Textillery Gallery is on the second floor of the Buskirk-Chumley Theater at 114 E. Kirkwood in downtown Bloomington, and is open to the public Monday - Saturday from 7AM to 7PM, and during scheduled performances.
September 8. 2003 Tom's photograph titled "Four Dancers" was accepted into the 59th Annual Wabash Valley Juried Exhibition at the Sheldon Swope Art Museum in Terre Haute. The photograph was also awarded the Edward Weston Award of Distinction! The exhibition will be on display from Sept. 20 through Oct. 26, 2003. September 1. 2003 September is Lotus Festival month in Bloomington! Tom's concert photos from past Lotus Festivals will be on display at the Encore Cafe and Bloomingfoods this month to help celebrate the 10th year of Lotus. There will also be a 10-year retrospective of photos from Lotus during this year's Festival, which runs September 24 to 28. Tom will of course be shooting the festival again this year. April. 2003 Tom is a featured artist at Gallery North in Bloomington, exhibiting a collection of 16 of his figure studies in the Spotlight Gallery from April 22 to May 17.
Dec. 2002 Tom has a solo exhibition of his photographs at The Photography Gallery in Indianapolis from Dec. 14, 2002 until January 31, 2003.
